Spellbreak: 14 Best Spell Combos, Ranked (2024)

Ever since the advent of PUBG, the battle royale genre has seen a stupendous rise in the number of video games. So much so that it is very rare to see a game that truly innovates in the genre. Spellbreak is one of those rare gems. Since its release in September 2020, the game has garnered a decent amount of players. Much of it has to do with its unique spell-based take on the whole battle royale domain. Players have the ability to cast spells which serve as the primary means of offence and defence in the game.

The sheer number of spell combos and the effort put into balancing them makes comparing them difficult. But don't worry, we've got new and old players covered.

Updated April 10, 2022 by Quain Holtey: A lot has happened to Spellbreak since its initial release. Plenty of balance changes and sweeping updates to important aspects such as movement with the introduction of a dodge, not to mention an entirely new game mode, Dominion. Many of the spell combinations in the game are incredibly powerful and viable regardless of game mode, whether it be Dominion or Battle Royale. However, some have their feet more firmly planted in one than the other, but which ones are best used where, and what gauntlets should you build for and prioritize finding to achieve the devastating combos you're looking for?

14 Wind And Stone - Dominion

Wind is one of the most versatile elements. Its ability to work with every other gauntlet in some way or another makes it incredibly desirable in a fight, though maybe not as your primary class.

When mixed with stone, it allows you to cover the short range distance better than anything else. Your tornado will redirect your boulderfall ability, as well as those of your opponents, giving you extra cover when you need it. Additionally, your windshear ability can alter boulderfall’s course, or make it travel further.

13 Fire And Lightning - Battle Royale And Dominion

Spellbreak: 14 Best Spell Combos, Ranked (2)

Fire and lightning don’t have any combos. Not really. However, this pair of gauntlets is worth running with for several reasons. The main one? Damage output. Fire and lightning are some of the strongest gauntlets in terms of damage.

Your flame wall can be used to box in your opponents, allowing you to call down your lightning strike for some serious damage. Even the lightning bolts and fireballs compliment each other extremely well, with one dealing immediate, low damage, and the other dealing high splash damage after a bit of travel time.

12 Stone And Toxic - Expecially In Dominion

Another pair of gauntlets that combo well without having any direct combos. While the two seem counter intuitive, with stone’s shockwave destroying your toxic puddles, keep in mind that the only totally opaque cover ability is the toxic cloud.

While boulderfall and toxic cloud don’t mix into a combo, you can still combine them to perform extremely high damage surprise attacks against your opponents. Lay down your toxic cloud between you and your opponents, or right on top of them, and use shockwave or boulderfall without them being able to see what you’re doing.

11 Wind And Ice - Battle Royale

Spellbreak: 14 Best Spell Combos, Ranked (4)

Wind disperses a lot of clouds. It’s one of the reasons it counters, and goes so well, with toxic. However, combining wind and ice makes for a combo that can freeze your opponents over, and over, and over, and over…

Here’s how it works, shoot your opponent with your ice lance ability and leave a trail of ice to skate on. Then, attack them, and the ice trail, with windshear to kick up the ice trail and create a small slowing and freezing field of ice mist all around your opponent. Use your tornado or flash freeze ability on top of that to trap them in place for long enough to deal some serious damage.

10 Stone And Ice - Battle Royale

Spellbreak: 14 Best Spell Combos, Ranked (5)

Better used as a defensive spell combo, Boulderfall can be used to remove water puddles. It is also highly effective at blocking Ice Lances. One of the best ways to use this combo is to use the Shockwave attack on Ice Puddles and Blocks. This converts them to Ice Mist which slows down enemies. Players should note that Ice Lances will freeze a Boulderfall attack and it has no effect on steam puddles.

9 Ice And Fire - Battle Royale

Surprisingly, juxtaposing these two elements will wreak havoc on enemies in Spellbreak. Using an Ice and Fire combo in Spellbreak will cover both long and short range combat. A creative way to use this combo is to create a fire wall then use Ice Shots to remove individual parts of the firewall. These gaps can be used to attack enemies while the rest of the fire wall can be used as cover. Players can also use the Flash Freeze attack on Fire to turn it into Ice Mist and Steam which temporarily freezes enemies.

8 Fire And Stone - Especially Dominion

The Pyromancer is one of the more beginner-friendly classes in Spellbreak. Combining it with the Stone Gauntlet makes it even more awesome. The Boulderfall spell can be made to run through fire which sets it ablaze. This causes additional damage to enemies. Another good way to combine the best of Earth and Fire is to use the shockwave attack through a flame wall.

In addition to making everything look way cooler, the attack deals a huge amount of damage to foes.

7 Ice And Lightning - Battle Royale And Dominion

Spellbreak: 14 Best Spell Combos, Ranked (8)

One of the flashiest combos in Spellbreak and certainly one of the most powerful, Ice and Lightning blend perfectly. Players can electrify water puddles or hit an Ice Lance which will do the same. This makes for a strong and effective attack. Upon hitting Ice Puddles, Lightning will electrify them as well. This can be used when they are turning into steam to create blocks of ice which are electrified.

6 Lightning And Toxic - Especially Battle Royale

Spellbreak: 14 Best Spell Combos, Ranked (9)

The Toxic gauntlet is widely used in Spellbreak and in combination with Lightning, it can be used to completely derail opponents. Toxic puddles can be electrified using Lightning Strikes, causing additional damage to enemy players. Players can cast Toxic Clouds and launch a Lightning attack on them to electrify them. These combos may be difficult to execute but are certainly worth it. In addition to dealing extra damage when combined with Lightning, the Toxic gauntlet is one of the most powerful gauntlets available in Spellbreak.

5 Wind And Toxic - Battle Royale

Spellbreak: 14 Best Spell Combos, Ranked (10)

Uncanny but effective, Wind and Toxic gauntlets make for an awesome spell combo in Spellbreak. Cast a Toxic cloud in the wrong direction? Use Wind Sheer to change its trajectory. This is true for incoming attacks as well. Another interesting fact is that five hits from a Wind Sheer can completely destroy a Toxic Cloud. The Wind Sheer picks up some toxicity when passing through Toxic Puddles or Mist. Players can use this to their advantage. The best attack in this combo, however, is the toxic whirlwind. To do this, players need to cast a Whirlwind attack on a Toxic Puddle or cast a Whirlwind and launch a toxic shot.

4 Wind And Lightning - Especially Dominion

Spellbreak: 14 Best Spell Combos, Ranked (11)

The Wind and Lightning combo is arguably the most popular spell combo in Spellbreak. For good reason. The easy to execute and visually magnificent combos can stop enemies dead in their tracks. A fast and effective way to damage does is to make a Wind Sheer pass through lightning. This electrocutes enemies upon impact. An electric tornado sounds awesome, right? Well, maybe not more than Sharknado but in Spellbreak players can cast an electric tornado.

To do this just use the Whirlwind attack and strike it with a lightning move.

3 Fire And Wind - Battle Royale And Dominion

Spellbreak: 14 Best Spell Combos, Ranked (12)

The Fire And Wind combo is an effective way to attack enemies without being exposed too much. This can be done by building a flame wall and casting a Wind Sheer. The attack passes right through the wall. It can also be used to attack foes hiding on the other side of a defensive flame wall. Players can also create a flaming tornado by using Whirlwind and attacking it with fire.

2 Toxic And Ice - Battle Royale

Spellbreak: 14 Best Spell Combos, Ranked (13)

Another quirky combination, toxicity and ice go well together in real life and in Spellbreak as well. Ice puddles can be converted into toxic puddles by hitting them with toxic spells. It doesn't stop here, these toxic puddles release fumes which slowly damage players. A defensive way to use this technique is to time the attack correctly to block Ice Lances. One thing to keep in mind is that Ice Lances turn Toxic Smoke to useless Ice Blocks.

1 Fire And Toxic - Especially Battle Royale And Dominion

Spellbreak: 14 Best Spell Combos, Ranked (14)

Dragonbreath. A word that makes even the best Spellbreak players quake with fear. The Pyro Toxic combo is the best spell combo in Spellbreak. Players can make flame walls toxic if they choose to but this blocks attacks from going out as well. The flame wall turns toxic sectionally, not all at once. Players can also turn toxic clouds fiery if they attack them with fireballs. In order to execute dragon breath, players will require a friend with a Wind gauntlet whose job is to cast a Whirlwind. Attacking this Whirlwind with a toxic move and subsequently, a fireball will result in a tornado that pulls inwards and explodes. Utter mayhem.
