Ce sunt lactobacilii?

Lactobacillus este un gen de bacterii anaerobe, gram-pozitive, care nu formeaza spori. Lactobacilii metabolizeaza carbohidratii pentru a produce acid lactic, fiind cel mai mare gen din grupul bacteriilor producatoare de acid lactic (LAB).

Cum sunt clasificati lactobacilii?

Speciile de Lactobacillus pot fi impartite in trei grupuri in functie de metabolismul lor.

-Grupul homofermentativ obligatoriu - care fermenteaza carbohidratii pentru a produce acid lactic ca produs secundar principal (de exemplu L. acidophilus si L. salivarius)

-Grupul heterofermentativ facultativ - care, in anumite conditii sau cu anumite substraturi, fermenteaza carbohidratii pentru a produce acid lactic, etanol /acid acetic si dioxid de carbon ca subprodusi (de exemplu, L. casei si L. plantarum)

-Grupul heterofermentativ obligatoriu - care fermenteaza intotdeauna carbohidratii pentru a produce acid lactic, etanol/acid acetic si dioxid de carbon ca subprodusi (de exemplu, L. reuteri) si L. fermentum)

Care este importanta lactobacililor?

Lactobacilii colonizeaza mai multe zone ale corpului uman, in special tractul digestiv, inclusiv cavitatea bucala si tractul genital feminin. La nivelul tractului digestiv , au rol in digestia anumitor substraturi alimentare, precum si protectie impotriva agentilor patogeni. Speciile de Lactobacillus poseda calitati care sunt de dorit din punct de vedere comercial, atat in industria suplimentelor pentru sanatate, cat si ca instrumente in sectorul tehnologiei alimentare. Principalele utilizari ale Lactobacililor sunt reprezentate de fabricare a produselor lactate fermentate, carne sau legume si produse din aluat si sunt, de asemenea, utilizate pe scara larga ca probiotice.

Care sunt beneficiile si utilizarile lactobacililor?

Diaree la copii cauzata de rotavirus
Copiii cu diaree rotavirala care sunt tratati cu Lactobacillus par sa treaca peste diaree intr-un timp mai scurt. Dozele mai mari de lactobacil sunt mai eficiente decat cele mai mici. Trebuie utilizate cel putin 10 miliarde de unitati care formeaza colonii in primele 48 de ore.

Cercetarile sugereaza ca administrarea de produse probiotice care contin numai tulpini de Lactobacillus reduce riscul de diaree cauzata de antibiotice.

Eczeme (dermatita atopica)
Majoritatea cercetarilor sugereaza ca produsele cu Lactobacillus sunt benefice pentru ameliorarea eczemei. Lactobacillus GG pare sa reduca simptomele eczemei la sugarii care sunt alergici la laptele de vaca. Lactobacillus sakei, Lactobacillus plantarum si o combinatie de Lactobacillus rhamnosus si Lactobacillus reuteri liofilizat par sa reduca, de asemenea, simptomele cauzate de eczema la copiii cu varste cuprinse intre 1 si 13 ani.

O afectiune asociata cu un risc crescut de a dezvolta reactii alergice (boala atopica) Cercetarile sugereaza ca administrarea de Lactobacillus ar putea preveni dezvoltarea bolii atopice, dar numai anumite tulpini de Lactobacillus par sa reduca riscul. O tulpina specifica de Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus GG , administrata pe cale orala cu 2-4 saptamani inainte de nastere si continuata in primele trei pana la sase luni de alaptare pare sa previna bolile atopice (astm, rinita alergica si eczema) la sugari cu antecedente familiale a acestei afectiuni.

Tratarea infectiilor vaginale cauzate de bacterii (vaginoza bacteriana)
Cercetarile clinice arata ca anumite tulpini de Lactobacillus ar putea ajuta la tratarea vaginozei bacteriene atunci cand sunt administrate intravaginal.

Diaree
Administrarea unei tulpini specifice de Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus GG sugarilor si copiilor cu varsta cuprinsa intre 1 si 36 de luni atunci cand sunt internati in spital pare sa reduca riscul de a dezvolta diaree.

Infectie cu Helicobacter pylori Cercetarile sugereaza ca administrarea de Lactobacillus poate ajuta la tratarea ulcerelor stomacale cauzate de H. pylori atunci cand se administreaza impreuna cu terapie tripla.

Colesterol ridicat
Consumul de iaurt sau administrarea de capsule care contin tulpina de Lactobacillus L. reuteri NCIMB 30242 pare sa reduca colesterolul LDL cu aproximativ 9% pana la 12% la adultii cu colesterol ridicat. De asemenea, administrarea de Lactobacillus plantarum pare sa reduca nivelul colesterolului total cu 14% la adultii cu colesterol ridicat.

Colici la bebelusi
Administrarea unui produs specific cu Lactobacillus reuteri reduc timpul zilnic de plans la sugarii care sunt alaptati.

Ameliorarea simptomelor sindromului de colon iritabil (IBS)

Artrita reumatoida
Cercetarile arata ca administrarea unei anumite tulpini de Lactobacillus casei timp de 8 saptamani reduce sensibilitatea si edemul articulatiilor la femeile cu poliartrita reumatoida.

Reduce frecventa diareei calatorului
Diareea calatorului este cauzata de bacterii, virusuri sau paraziti la care calatorul nu a fost expus inainte. Administrarea de Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus GG pare sa ajute la prevenirea diareei calatorului.

Tratarea unei afectiuni intestinale numita colita ulceroasa
