What is in our low carb pie crust?

  • Almond Flour
  • Coconut Flour
  • Eggs
  • Butter

Yes, you counted that right. Just 4 ingredients!

4 ingredients and just 2 net carbs per slice makes me a very happy camper and I’m excited to be able to eat all the pie.

As you see above the dough is not resemble your typical pie crust. When you press it will nicely form a ball and so on but it will need a little bit of extra finesse if you plan to roll it out. Therefore, that is why we take the easy route and press the crust into the pan that way then bake!

A few filling ideas to add into this pie crust

  • pumpkin pie
  • lemon meringue
  • pecan pie
  • ‘apple’ pie
  • chocolate creme pie

So many low carb options to enjoy with this pie crust. The options are endless. Related: Don’t forget the fresh whipped cream. That ALWAYS should go with pie.

HOW MANY NET CARBS for our Pie Crust

2 Net Carbs per 1/8th of pie crust.. This does not account for any additional filling of the pie so be sure to account those together.

I’d say you be able to have most of our pie fillings under 2 net carbs though so 4 Net Carbs for a slice of pie makes me REALLY happy.

If you are new to this Low Carb/Keto lifestyle please feel free to read up more on Net Carbs and why people do or don’t subtract sugar alcohols.

What else you need to know with this keto and low carb pie crust

Pre-bake or to not pre-bake: I’ve personally baked this before and then baked with filling. I’ve found that it kind of depends on the filling for what the results will be. If you are even a tiniest bit worried that the crust won’t bake in the center then pre-bake it.

If you are short on time (or oven space) then with pumpkin pie I’ve noticed not pre-baking really does not change the final results.
